The following is the latest update to the Police Safer Neighbourhood ward panel which should be of interest to DCA members.
All Ward Panel Chairs
There is currently a large restructuring of the Metropolitan Police both in respect to our structure and practices. As you can imagine this has been very time consuming trying to get it right for Ealing so that we continue to meet the needs of our community.
Ealing Borough goes live with the new 'Local Policing Model' on Monday 16th September, what does this mean for you? I have laid out the main changes below:
Ward Teams will be made up of 1 Sergeant, 1 Dedicated Ward PC and 1 Dedicated ward PCSO. These staff have the responsibility to continue with our current community based policing activities and to participate in Ward Panel Meetings and community forums within the ward. This team work a rota covering various shifts between 0700 - 0200
I have an additional 24 PC's who will cover Ealing Cluster on a 5 week shift rota also covering the hours 0700 - 0200. They have the responsibility to answer non emergency requests to see police with in Ealing cluster (Walpole, Cleveland, Hobbayne, Ealing Broadway, Ealing Common, Northfields, Elthorne) they will also be used to move around the cluster dealing with taskings to address issues within any of my wards.
I will have an additional Detective Sergeant plus 4 PC's who will concentrate on investigating crimes that within my wards.
I will also have a dedicated officer to deal with Licensing issues and another officer to progress reports of Anti Social Behaviour
This is an evolving model and currently we will still be looking towards the ward panels to assist us to set out 3 'Priorities' as we currently do and then an additional 3 'Promises'.
These promises will be set on a monthly basis, how we do this needs to be discussed at your next panel meeting. Due to tight timescales the first set of promises have been created by your Ward teams addressing current issues, these are all shown on the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Web site under your wards page.
